Problems & Fixes for Wires-X nodes

I have often seen wires-x stations connecting and disconnecting over and over for hours on end.

I contacted Ron MacKay VE1AIC to see if he had any answers to this very common problem.

Thanks to Ron, here is his reply.

Hi Jim,

The two most common problems with Wires-X nodes are:

1. the Windows OS/Wires-X develops a problem and needs a reboot (once a

month at least)

Some stations have set timers to reboot the PC or Wires-X every night.

Sometimes just restarting the Wires-X application is enough.

2. The router ports are not defined properly. This can happen due to IP

address changes. This is a significant problem when using HRI-200.

The Tools/Port Check in Wires-X will tell you if its working properly.

Stations that are using Wires-X 24/7 need to check the logs on their PC

every day or so to be sure it's not causing a problem.
